Redeemed by the Blood.

“Life is senseless. There’s no meaning. It all comes to nothing anyway, so why not. Yeah!  I lost that desire to create something new, and I turned to drowning my sorrows.

And then one day at home watching a ball game while having a few beers and snacks, I looked up and saw the picture hanging on the wall. Back to the ball game and another gulp of beer, I looked at it again. I liked the beautiful oak frame, while Angelia loved the picture. She proudly hung it above the entertainment center, where we couldn’t neglect seeing it every day, as we relaxed watching a movie.

Back and forth, my eyes drifted between the picture and the game. Over and over again.  The picture slowly became my focus.

My soul was seeing it as if for the first time. It, that artistic painting for some strange reason, yet now not strange, appeared alive to me.  I saw the blood pouring out of his sides, his arms, shoulders, feet, and wrists, the blood dropping to the ground. The blood coming out of those thorns around his forehead, dripping down his cheeks and jaw, mingling with the flow from the other side, gathering on his neck and down to his chest. I saw the lifeless eyes, eyebrows sticking out, and his head hanging low to one side as he is suspended from that wooden cross.

Inside each drop of blood, I began to see videos exploding within each droplet of the wrongs I had committed throughout my life. What I had done to a girl while in the third grade, what I had called schoolmates, my secret transgressions, the lies I told, the items I pocketed without paying, and thousands more including actions I would never have considered as having crossed the line. Still, motion pictures and movies of all my wrongdoings coming alive out of each drop of blood, and then disappearing back into the drops.

I fell to my knees and sobbed. I felt ashamed. I wept. I cried out.

All those wrongs were now wiped away, and I was forgiven. I was healed. I was starting over. A new person.  I wept again, this time with joy running over.

Life had meaning again, and I have not felt sorry for myself since His light penetrated my darkness.”

More of soon to be published novel

Ah, I’ve been editing, adding to and deleting some from a Novel soon to be published. And this hit me as relevant to life today.

“Continuing Sam adds, “Throughout our entire human existence mankind has had to learn to adapt to the climate of this earth or get sucked into the evilness of fire, lightning, volcanoes, tornadoes and other weather conditions. Overall, mankind has done an impressive job of it too, and you’ll go home tonight to a thermostat-controlled temperature.

Now when I hear of a tornado or hurricane terrifying thousands, I sarcastically say, Adam, you turned the world upside down.” Sam pauses and then asks, “Are these aspects of nature here to remind us just as that rainbow is a reminder?”

“You didn’t ask for it, but here’s some more.”

“We’ve come a long way in understanding how things work, but when we get into the spiritual nature of things our spiritual leaders go round and round in circles disagreeing with each other causing divisions within the church letting the secular scientists win as they agree among themselves that nothing caused everything, and if we’d get rid of our cars and trucks, we’d eliminate the warming.”

Sam pauses looking at each and, “Francinea, have I bored you?”

“Ah …No. Not at all.”

“I’ve been discussing goodness and evil. Just as this earth and atmosphere have mostly good beneficial features for us, there’s the evil side too. We’re the same with mostly good features guiding us, but then there’s that other side erupting throwing insults and balls of fire at others. We don’t hear that inner voice instructing us, as we’re so busy listening to all the other voices.”

Social Distancing Yucckkkk!

Six-Months ago, would any of us have thought that you couldn’t have an extended family gathering for a birthday party. Or, that you couldn’t attend the Easter service, you had to watch it on your home computer. No way, right? Yep, but it happened, and now officials have begun using drones to warn and spy on citizens that may be breaking the social-distancing rules.

Two years ago, in writing my latest novel, I never dreamed that a gathering of more than 10 adults would now be illegal here in the land of the free. In chapter six, the main character invites three couples over for a Bible study and it was shut down by the local police in riot gear and fined $1500. A neighbor informed the police, and a drone flying over the back yard recorded the shout-out.
